Kanji Vada paani recipe for holi theme kitty party

Kanji Vada

is a delicious refreshing drink generally made during Holi festival in India. It is also a wonderful drink in that help in digestive problems.

Ingredients For the Vada
3 cup split green beans(yellow moong daal)
2 teaspoon Cumin seeds (jeera)
1 1/2 teaspoon common salt
1 teaspoon Asafoetida (heeng)
oil for frying




Ingredients for For kanji water
2 liter water
1 teaspoon Black salt
1 teaspoon roasted cumin
100 grams Tamarind (imli)
1 tbsp chaat masala
1 tbsp Jaljeera powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon Black pepper powder
salt according to taste

How to make Vada
Wash and soak the green beans (yellow moong daal) overnight.
1). In morning drain the water and grind the daal into a fine paste, with little water if required.
2). With the help of beater, make the paste fluffy. Now add salt, cumin seeds and asafeotida to this paste and mix well.
3). Heat oil in a kadahi. Reduce the heat to low-medium flame.
4). Give shape of the vadas to daal paste and place them in to the hot oil. Prepare all the Vadas and place them on an absorbent paper to remove the excess oil.



How to make Kanji paani

Soak the tamarind in 2 1/2 cup water. Take the pulp of the soaked tamarind. Add this pulp into the water and mix well. Now add all the above kanji paani spices. Mix the water well. Kanji water is ready.




For serve
Before serving the drink, dip the prepared vadas into plain water for 5 minutes and then squeeze softly to remove the water. Put them into the Kanji water and let the vadas remain in it so that they can soak the kanji water.
Before serving the kanji water chill it. You can also put besan boondi and green coriander leaves in kanji water for garnishing. The drink is really refreshing and digestive too.
